TRAINING AND OUTCOME REQUIREMENTS
- educational level: bachelor's degree (abbreviated as BSc)
- qualification: economist, Bachelor's degree in international management
- designation of the professional qualification in English: Economist in International Business

- orientation of the programme: practice-oriented (60 vs.70 percent)
- minimum credit value of practical training outside the institution: 60 credits, of which the credit value assigned to the thesis is 10 credits
- minimum credit value assigned to elective / optional subjects: 10 credits
a) Educational objectives: training of economic professionals with high-level negotiation skills also in a foreign language, who, with their knowledge of economics, applied economics and methodology, and the knowledge acquired in the framework of specializations, are able to carry out and manage international entrepreneurial activities. They are prepared to continue their studies in a Master's degree programme. ..
b) Professional competencies to be acquired
The competencies of an economist in the Bachelor’s programme in International Business can be summarized as follows.
1) Knowledge
- Has a knowledge of the basic, comprehensive concepts, theories, facts, national and international economic relations of economics, relevant economic actors, functions and processes.
- Has mastered the basic theories and characteristics of the micro and macro levels of economic organization, possesses the basic information collection, mathematical and statistical analysis methods.
- Knows the rules and ethical norms of cooperation in a project, team, work organization, project management.
- Knows and understands the basics of expert knowledge suitable for identifying international shipping and international financial processes, the relevant information collection, analysis and problem-solving methods according to the field, their application conditions and limitations.
- Knows the basics of other fields (legal, regional development, educational) related to international businesses.
- Knows and understands the basic functions, determinations and goals of economic policy, foreign trade processes, foreign economic policy. Has the knowledge necessary for effective work in relation to the functioning of the European Union.
- Is aware of the functioning of organizations, the IT and office technology tools supporting business processes.
- Has mastered the written and oral forms of professional and effective communication, tabular and graphical ways of presenting data.
- Has the basic professional vocabulary of economics in his/her native language and in at least two foreign languages.
2) Skills
- Plans, organizes, manages and controls economic activities, projects, small businesses, business organizations.
- Using the learned theories and methods, reveals, systemizes and analyses facts and fundamental relationships, formulates independent conclusions, critical observations, prepares decision-preparatory proposals, makes decisions in routine and partly unknown - domestic and international - environments.
- Follows and interprets global economic and international business processes, changes in economic policy and related policies and legislation relevant to the field, their effects, and takes these into account in his/her analyses, proposals and decisions.
- Is able to determine the complex consequences of transportation and foreign trade processes.
- Plans and organizes economic activities for transportation and foreign trade processes in a business organization, in an economic position.
- Presents a professionally formulated professional proposal and position orally and in writing, in Hungarian and foreign languages, in accordance with the rules of professional communication. Understands and uses typical online and printed literature in his/her field in Hungarian and foreign languages.
- Participates in projects and group problem solving, and after acquiring practical knowledge and experience, leads, organizes, evaluates, and controls the activities as a leader. Able to cooperate with representatives of other fields (engineers, foreign traders).
- Is aware of the specifics of working in an international, multicultural environment.
- Is able to manage a small and medium-sized enterprise or an organizational unit in a business organization after acquiring practical knowledge and experience.
- Is able to use his / her intermediate-level professional foreign language skills.
3) Attitude
- Demonstrates problem-sensitive, proactive behaviour in the interest of quality work, is constructive, cooperative, and proactive in project and group tasks.
- Is receptive to receiving new information, new professional knowledge and methodologies, and is open to taking on new, independent and collaborative tasks and responsibilities.
- Strives to develop his/her knowledge and working relationships, and to cooperate with his/her colleagues in this.
- Is critical of his/her own knowledge, work, and behaviour, as well as that of his/her subordinates. He/she is ready to correct mistakes and also helps his/her colleagues in this.
- Is open to changes in the broader economic and social environment of the given job, work organization, and enterprise, and strives to follow and understand changes.
- Strives to responsibly consider the opinions of others, sectoral, regional, national, and European values (including social, ecological, and sustainability aspects) in decision-making.

4) Autonomy and responsibilities
- Under general professional supervision, independently performs and organizes the tasks specified in the job description.
- Independently organizes the analysis of economic processes, the collection, systematization and evaluation of data.
- Takes responsibility for his/her analyses, conclusions and decisions.
- Takes responsibility for compliance with professional, legal and ethical norms and rules related to his/her work and conduct.
- Independently monitors changes in the socio-economic and legal environment affecting his/her field of expertise.
- With partial support, independently follows and applies related policies.
- Gives lectures and leads discussions independently.
- Independently and responsibly participates in the work of professional forums within and outside the business organization.
1.) Professional characteristics
The disciplines and areas of expertise leading to the professional qualification, from which the programme is built:
- economic, methodological and business knowledge (mathematics, statistics, informatics, micro- and macroeconomics, international economics, finance, corporate economics, economic law, marketing, accounting management, business communication, technical language, environmental economics, other basic business knowledge) 80-90 credits;
- social science knowledge (European Union, general and economic law knowledge, economic history, sociology, psychology, philosophy, organizational and management theory) 10-20 credits;
- professional knowledge of international business (international trade and economic institutions, world economic processes and regions, foreign economic policy, analysis and market development, international finance, international transactions, international marketing, intercultural management, European Union community policies, international negotiation techniques, international etiquette, protocol, and optional specializations) 70-90 credits.
The credit ratio of special knowledge that can be acquired in areas that meet the needs of the international management profession is a maximum of 30 credits within the entire training program.
2). Internship requirements
The internship is a one-semester, minimum twelve-week, continuous internship as specified in the curriculum of the higher education institution..
3). Special features that distinguish the training
In order to strengthen its international character, a requirement of the training is to perform at least one semester of work practice / internship experience abroad or in an international environment. For obtaining a professional qualification in the Bachelor’s training, communication skills must be achieved in two (2) foreign languages at least at the intermediate (B2) level, enhanced with specific professional vocabulary.
